Dia Mirza said drug rumors are damaging her career; “what career” ask netizens.

Dia Mirza

Reports came out on Tuesday claiming that the Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein actress and former beauty pageant titleholder may now come under the NCB’s scanner. Her name tumbled out during an interrogation with the alleged drug peddler, Anuj Keshwani.

The news went viral in minutes and, as usual, sent the netizens abuzz. The concern reached the actress-turned-activist soon and responding to such rumors, Dia Mirza took to Twitter and other platforms of social media, to refute her alleged involvement in procurement and consumption of drugs.

She said, the frivolous reporting has a direct impact on her reputation being besmirched and is causing damage to her career which she has painstakingly built with years of hard work.

Now, this claim had netizens in splits. We already know that the internet can be a very cruel and rude place and people on social media don’t hold back. Many jumped in to ask the actress which “career” was she referring to and pointed out, rather sarcastically, that Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein was just one movie, not a career.

Dia Mirza had debuted in Bollywood with Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, opposite Madhavan. She won a couple of awards and fleeting popularity for essaying the adorable “Reena Malhotra” in the film. Though RHTDM didn’t do exceptionally well at the theatres, it became a cult film gradually in later years after repeated telecast on the television.

After RHTDM, unfortunately, Dia didn’t see much of notable success in films. There are no blockbusters to her credit either. Films like Deewanapaan, Tehzeeb, or Naam Gum Jaayega failed to pull audiences. Makers gradually started approaching her with supporting roles or with roles of limited scope in movies boasting a large star cast. Parineeta, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, and Sanju are some of such releases that featured Dia, but their success wasn’t accredited solely to her.

Recently seen in a supporting role in the Taapsee Pannu starrer Thappad, Dia is known more for her activism and political statements made on Twitter, talk shows, and otherwise, these days. The news of the alleged link in a drug cartel definitely comes as a shocker for her fans. Investigations are underway, and we can only wait to know the truth.
